Well systems share symptoms. A pressure switch can click because the tank is waterlogged; a pump can run continuously because of a leak, lost prime, or inadequate output; and a no-water complaint can begin with power, controls, piping, the pump, or the well itself. Start with observable behavior and testing rather than replacing the first suspected component.

Record the gauge pressure before water use and while a fixture is open. Note whether the motor starts, how long it runs, whether pressure rises, and what happens when demand stops. Stop operating the system when wiring is exposed, equipment is wet or sparking, the motor smells burned, or a breaker repeatedly trips.
